Turkoosinvihreään lankapuhelimeeni oli tallennettu pikavalintaan kaikki parhaiden ystävieni numerot – ei sillä, ettenkö olisi muistanut niitä jokaista myös ulkoa. Puhelut kestivät usein tunnin, kaksi tai kolmekin. Ikävöin tuota aikaa. Mukavaa löhöasentoa omalla sängyllä, hyvän ystävän ääntä puhelimen toisessa päässä. Yhdentekevää jaaritusta, jolla kuitenkin oli tärkeä merkitys. Samanlaiseen kiireettömään höpötykseen ei nykyelämässä ja -maailmassa enää tunnu olevan aikaa eikä tilaa. Nykyään höpötykset hoidetaan tehokkaan pikaisesti tekstarilla, sähköpostilla tai kiireisillä lounastreffeillä. Entisaikojen kiireettömyys on näistä kohtaamisista kaikonnut kokonaan. Kasvokkain tavatessakin vähintään toinen on jo heti alkajaisiksi ilmoittanut joutuvansa pian kiirehtimään paikkaan c. Nykyään soitetaan harvoin puhelimella. Kun sitten soitetaan, on toinen osapuoli yleensä estynyt puhumaan. Ruokakaupassa, työpalaverissa, menossa jonnekin tai tulossa jostakin. ”Sori en voi nyt puhua, soitellaan myöhemmin.” Ja se soittaminen jää. Ylipäätään tuntuu, että soittamiseen täytyy olla jokin tärkeä asia. On paljon helpompaa laittaa tekstari – eipähän häiritse kaveria kesken minkään tärkeän – ja jos asiaa ei oikeastaan ole, jää se tekstarikin laittamatta. Tavallinen, vanhanaikainen puhelu on jäämässä nykymaailmassa jalkoihin, aivan kuten perinteiselle, postitetulle kirjeelle on jo käynyt. Ja kuinka lämpimästi ne aikanaan ilahduttivat, ja ilahduttavat edelleen. Ottaisin lankapuhelimen ja löhöasennon koska tahansa takaisin. |
